TWIN RIVER OUTFITTER'S
GLEN MAURY PARK PADDLE SHACK
TRO maintains a small satellite location at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista, VA, about 25 miles from our main Buchanan, VA store. Our new “paddle shack” is located along the banks of the Maury River and allows us to run a number of seasonally available canoe, kayak, and river tubing trips.
The scenic Maury River offers a very different paddling experience than that of the Upper James River. Its smaller volume, narrow channels, and impressive rapids will give you an exciting paddling experience. Spring time flows allow for some adventurous paddling options that can be challenging even for an intermediate recreational paddler. The river is also known for some impressive small mouth bass fishing. As summer comes and water levels historically drop we start running our lazy river tubing trips.
Due to seasonal river level fluctuations all river trips require advanced reservation. We are typically able to run paddling trips from April to June and after significant rain events during the summer. We only run trips when the Buena Vista Maury River Gauge is between 1.75 to 4.5 Ft.
