Camping on the James River with Twin River Outfitters
The Gala and Arcadia campgrounds accommodate both paddle-in and drive-in campers, while Horseshoe Bend is generally only accessible by paddling in. Due to high demand, the Horseshoe Bend campground is limited to those using livery service and boat rentals from Twin River Outfitters only.
Advance reservations are required for all campsites. Each is numbered and includes a fire ring, picnic table, parking area, and a level tent pad. Portable toilets are available nearby. Please bring your own water supply as there is no potable water source.
Nightly cost per site: $12.00 per person per day plus tax. Minimum campsite fee $36.00. Children under age 5 not counted for billing purposes. The $12.00 rate applies both to overnight guests as well as day guests. Rates are subject to an additional 9.3% sales and occupancy tax. Full payment is due at the time of the reservation, and cancellations or refunds require seven days’ notice.

Campground Rules: 1) Reservations are required for use of all campsites, 2) Place all garbage in centrally loaded trash cans, leave site clean for next group including fire ring, 3) Camp site quiet hours are between 9 pm – 8 am. No loud music permitted any time, 4) No fire arms & fireworks of any kind permitted, 5) Alcohol is permitted only in moderation at campsite when done responsibly, 6) Use the designated fire rings at the campsites, 7) Firewood for sale at each campground, 7) Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash at all times. Owners responsible for their pet’s behavior. Excessive barking that disturbs other campers will be asked to leave, 8) Camp ground will close for high water when the river gets above 6 feet on the Buchanan James River Gauge for paddle in customers, Full refunds given as appropriate during periods of high water, 9) Stay in designated camping areas. 10) Campsites are located in a wilderness setting, all camping done at own risk. Owners and managers not responsible for accidents, 11) RVs and Camping Trailers not allowed, 12) No ATVs or 4 Wheelers allowed on property.
